Sonja Bruzauskas

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Born and raised in Germany, mezzo soprano Sonja Bruzauskas was trained on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Besides her expansive stage career in musical theater, opera and operetta, Sonja is a well-established concert singer and recitalist, focusing on oratorio, Art Song and contemporary music.

Sonja has performed and lectured at institutions such as Vanderbilt, LSU, Rice University, Cal Arts, the University of Houston, the Philosophical Society at Rice University as well as numerous health institutions.

Sonja serves as director for the Theatre Forum at Round Top and she teaches Interdisciplinary Collaborations for CSSSA at CalArts.  Sonja is the founder and director of pARTnerschools, a project that connects students through the Arts to empower diversity and strengthen communities.

Lex Gillette

Lex Gillette is a globally recognized Paralympic track and field athlete who competes for Team USA. Competing primarily in the long jump, Lex has acquired four Paralympic medals, three world champion titles, and 18 national championships. He is the current world record holder in the long jump for totally blind athletes with a  leap of 22 ft 1 in, making him the only totally blind athlete on the planet to ever eclipse the 22 ft barrier in the event. His ultimate goal is to win gold for Team USA at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.

When he is not competing around the world, Lex is a motivational speaker who has presented to Fortune 500 corporations, pro sports teams, trade associations, and universities. He is constantly challenging his audiences to see past their current reality as there is more to life than what is in front of their eyes. Annie Reilly 

Annie Reilly (RYT 200) is currently a senior at Canyon Crest Academy. She completed her yoga teacher certification over the summer of 2017 and currently volunteers on campus teaching yoga to students and staff. Annie hopes to bring awareness and presence to yoga students in a way that is energizing, fun, and relaxing.

Theo Zelkind

 Theo Zelkind is a 17 year old junior at CCA, born and raised in San Diego. He has always been very passionate about making positive change in the world and recently started public speaking. Theo has spoken about his experience as a member of the LGBT+ and Jewish communities and is very honored to have been asked to speak here. He is very excited to share his message of love and unity with CCA Unite.

Kacee Jensen

Kacee Bree Jensen is the founder of Let's Talk Teens (LetsTalkTeens.com), a place parents and teens can go to find resources and tools to navigate the modern world we are living in. Kacee is a youth advocate, speaker, writer and mom of four (including a teen), who has spent the last 16 years helping families, schools, and communities across the country navigate the ups and downs of the teen years.

 

Kacee for the past four years has been honored to speak on behalf of Rachel’s Challenge, a school assembly program promoting kindness and compassion based on the life of Rachel Scott the first victim of the Columbine High School shooting. Kacee is a regular contributor to publications and media like Family Circle, NBC Seattle, USA Today and others to talk about teen life.

Richard Kuo

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Richard Kuo is a youth inspirational speaker, mentor, and Youtuber with over 1 million video views. He has been featured at TEDx and has also been invited to speak at over 100 schools across the United States to help students realize their significance. Growing up with very low self-esteem, a negative self-image, depression, and other teenage problems, Richard understands the challenges many students face today. He uses his own life story of overcoming negative self-talk to empower students to take ownership of their own lives today.

Viet Mai
 
 
 
Viet Mai is an educator, poet and entrepreneur from San Diego, CA. Upon finding his voice through spoken word poetry, Mr. Viet connects with community leaders throughout San Diego and other cities to inspire young people, promote civic engagement, celebrate art and culture, and elevate social consciousness. Mr. Viet currently serves as a Program Facilitator with the Village of Promise Collective Mentoring Program, and an Independent Consultant. After completing his MA in Social Innovation, Viet Mai is exploring the startup community and impact sector to find ways of designing and implementing sustainable change.
Jennifer Purdie
 
Jennifer Purdie is the author of the bestselling book Growth Mindset for Athletes, Coaches and Trainers, a freelance writer, endurance athlete, TEDx speaker, and certified personal trainer. She has written for publications and top organizations such as Under Armour, The Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, U.S. News and World Report , Triathlete, Running Times, Competitor and Salon.  Magazines and television she has been featured in include Woman’s Day, Redbook , Reader’s Digest, Shape, Dr. Oz The Good Life, Success and Fox Sports. She is an Ironman finisher and was one of the first Americans to complete full marathons on every continent. She holds a personal training certification with the National Academy of Sports Medicine and is a Fitness and Nutrition Specialist with the American Council on Exercise. She is also a stand-up comedian throughout Hollywood and member of Toastmasters.

Chris Hamilton

 

 

Christopher Hamilton's life as a teacher began at UCLA, where he taught 18th and 19th Century British Literature. In 1998, he began teaching the SAT and ACT. In the last decade, he has founded or co-founded three education companies devoted to skills-based test prep and college consulting. He has helped hundreds of students gain admission into their top-choice schools, including over 100 Harvard acceptances and hundreds at other Ivy-League schools and top UCs.

Sofia Perri

 

 

Sofia Perri is a senior at Canyon Crest Academy. Throughout her four years at CCA, she has been a part of Associated Student Body, Varsity Soccer, ADL's No Place for Hate Club, and her local youth group, among many other activities. She has used her many interests to find common ground in today's pressing debates, and she hopes to always use her confidence to promote positive change in her communities. Sofia will be continuing her education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor this fall, where she will study Sport Management.

Alexander Simone

Alexander Simone is a San Francisco-based entrepreneur, inventor, and designer. He grew up in San Diego and attended Sage Canyon Elementary, Carmel Valley Middle School, and Canyon Crest Academy. Alexander founded Pronto Concepts Inc in 2016. He appeared on Season 9 of Shark Tank while pitching his invention, ProntoBev, the 30-second wine chiller. Pronto Concepts plans to periodically launch inventions Alexander has been developing for the past several years.
